I can't offer you a comparison but I did purchase the Nikon Coolpix P530. I'm far from a professional photographer but been using various camera's for over 10 years. The Coolpix is simple to use and has a great zoom and storage capability. The auto feature takes solid pics but you have a ton of options for scene and other effects. Another cool feature is that you can transfer photo's from the camera to your smart phone using an optional WIFI dongle that connects to the camera. Ask the salesperson about this one. It connects fairly easily and I like to move some of the pics to my mobile. I think for a beginner it has many features to play with and learn the skill. I'm still working on some of the things but I've used the camera almost two months and I really enjoy it. As I mentioned, using the auto feature makes it pretty brain less which works good for me. The 60X zoom is cool so you won't have to change lenses for that feature. It's plenty for my use. Plus I thought the price was a good deal. When it first arrived it was over $400 so that's a plus. Hope this helps some.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It will depend on how far you want to go with photography and what type of photography you want to do . The D3200 would be the better choice if you want to progress with photography as a hobby. The D3200 will be more versatile. As your skills improve, you add lenses and speed lights and begin to built your system. The P530 is great if you want a point and shoot - with some manual adjustments available and great zoom range. You will eventually want the speed and superior versatility of a DSLR, like the D3200, if you have an interest in photography.
