“How much sound can the video mic take before it distorts? I go to a lot of drum corps shows and it can get very loud. I need a mic that can record a powerful corps. I have a Sony now and it does well except for lower register.”

I have used the camera for video the longest a video was is 4 minutes and there was no distorts at all, just make sure you go into settings and adjust the volume to yur preference

It does have a Wind Noise reduction setting, while it was made to reduce the interference seen when wind passes over the mic, it may assist you with the sound levels you experience from a drum corp show.
