From my experience, the answer to that is do you use the flash or not? This model has the "through the lens" flash, and in my experience, it causes shadows on the close-up photos, which I guess is probably what you need. ( have a Nikon S9600 and it works great indoors, and I would strongly recommend that. It is a little bigger, not so pocket-friendly as the S7000, but a much better performer all around otherwise. in my experience.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. When shooting indoors, it would be recommended to shoot on shutter priority mode (Tv for Canon, S for Nikon) with a shutter speed no slower than 1/60 to 1/200. Anything higher than 1/200 may gain interference from any artificial lighting source you may have. Artificial lighting sources may include fluorescent “tube” lights, Speedlights, etc. This is because light bulbs flicker at a high frequency rate that doesn’t appear too visible to our naked eye. However, when shooting at nearly the same frequency as it, you will start to see those blue and orange bars caused by the lights.

I find this camera takes excellent pictures indoors and has a range of options that can give different effects according to what you need it for.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The camera works great for indoors. I had the same problem and found out I was putting my fingers over the two flash ports on the front. Keep your fingers on the side and top and your photos should improve greatly.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Well did you have the flash set on or off. When I first started taking pictures the pictures were too bright from the flash on indoor pictures, but I'm still getting used to it. I practiced taking different types by adjusting the dial at the top.

Go to the left as far as you can on the screen by using the selector button (big button around the OK button). Go down to the wrench shaped icon. Once this is highlighted go to the right with the selector button. Go down the menu using this same button until you see the “Reset All” option. Say yes to any changes and the camera will be brought back to factory settings. Once it is reset you can begin to use the camera. If you want to use Auto stay on the green camera icon. To take a picture, point the camera at your subject and do a light half-press on the shutter button. If subject is in focus you will see a green box on the monitor. You then press fully down on the shutter button. This should give you a focused image that is bright and clear. To get inside party images you may want to try to change the mode dial to Scene (without the heart icon). Once in Scene Mode you can choose the image you like by pressing Menu. This will give you scene choices. Choose the one you want by highlighting it and press the OK button. Scene Mode does have a Party/Indoor option.
