“Is this a good camera for indoor sporting events. My current camera does not take good pictures indoors or at night.”

The D3300 - with it's ability to boost ISO setting and it's larger sensor is excellent for indoor sporting events. You might want to look into getting a longer zoom lens along with this basic 18-55mm Kit. Please look at the NIKKOR 55-300mm lens that is sold at Best Buy. It will assist you in zooming in on the action at those indoor sporting events.
