“External 3.5mm mic jack? Does this camera have the 3.5mm mic jack?”

• Yes. I don't own the camera but I was specifically looking for this feature on DSLRs and saw the D3300 did have a mini stereo mic jack. It sits next to the USB and HDMI connectors. I then downloaded the operators guide to read more about it. Unfortunately the guide does not cover any details on the function of the mic jack other than just confirming it has one. I'd like to know specifically if the mic jack can be used to input music off an MP3 player while recording a video. And if so; the camera's external microphone would be muted when doing so.
