The Nikon D3400 DSLR camera does not have a built-in focus motor. For lenses that autofocus on the D3400 look for lenses with AF-S, AF-P and E stamp on the barrel. Nikon AI and AF-type lenses can also be used but must be focused manually. The lenses listed with this D3400 DSLR kit are both AF-P type lenses and will autofocus with this camera. Yes both lenses that come with the camera are auto focus and also have stability built in.  If you use the large zoom lens for video you will definitely need a tripod.
