The 70-300 zoom takes 58mm. This is different that the short zoom "normal" 18-55mm, which takes a 55mm filter. My old Nikon 35mm spoiled me with almost all lenses taking 52mm filters. Now I need two polarizers, two close-up filters. but this is better than needing one set of those plus all different color correction filters for different sources of light for film photography. That is now done electronically. Some special effects are also electronic, and I am not so concerned about using many other optical filters.
