“Zoom quality I am purchasing a new camera to take pictures of my daughter during competitive cheer competitions. Most take place in School gyms. If I sat at the top bleachers level or a little farther would the 18-55mm do well to take close up pictures while she is moving fast? Or should I go with the 18-140mm.”

• Since you will be a distance away taking pictures - indoors, we would recommend the 18-140. Be aware that you will need to boost the ISO in order to freeze motion. The D5300 makes it easy to do that. It is a SPORTS Scene Mode that will make all the correct settings for you. Be aware, once your camera is in this mode it will disable the flash.

• The 18-140mm would probably get the best shot from there. You might need a tripod for stability to keep the quality and clarity.
