Yes. But for night photography you don't need an expensive DSLR like this. A D3400 costing you less than $400, can easily do the job. You should be spending money on good lenses, because you would need to pick a fast lens with less comas. My recommendations are - Tokina 11-16 2.8 (for Nikon DX camera) - Nikon 20mm 1.8 G (for FX camera)

Remember, for the moon, it is lit by direct sunlight the same as your house at noon. So the exposure would be the same. In the 'old' days it was F16 at the shutter speed of the film ISO rating.
