September 2014 is when the D750 was introduced and it is still in the current Nikon camera line up. 2014 likely is not when your particular camera was manufactured.

Shutter count is probably the most important item and these should last well over 120k actuations. I think they are rated at 150k and even that is probably a conservative number. In short a new in box camera should be ok even if it has been around for MANY years. I also shoot medium format and some of my mamiyas and hassies are 30-40 yrs old at least. I habe a large format camera that is 100 yrs old. If you parents take care this will be a camera they could theoretically pass down to other generations. Modern manufacturing processes mean most cameras are well suited to long life. Hope this helps you or others.
