If you pair the camera with iPhone/Android phone and utilize the Nikon SnapBridge app, you can download location data to the camera. The downside is you have to remember to do this before you start and if you change locations you then have to download the location data at the new location after you get there. (So it isn’t automatic)

No, it doesn't have it built in. But it has a port to plug in a GPS into it. It also has an option to add location data manually. And, my favorite, if you link your smartphone with the camera using their app SnapBridge you can pull the GPS data from your phone to the camera.
