The Nikon USA website has a compatibility chart that list the lenses that will work. It only lists Nikon lenses not other brands. Same site also shows all Nikon lenses currently for sale with specs and prices. Affordable can be different for different people. A cheap lens is expensive if you never actually use it.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hopefully you have already found a list of lenses that will work with this adapter. From what I discovered the Nikkor F series lenses are best because of all the auto features that will still work. If you are wanting to use non-Nikkor lenses hopefully one or more photography magazines have done a review by now.

If not, you will need to manual focus, but the lens can still be read by the camera if the lens has electronic connections and features. For cheap lenses, I don't think that is any such thing new. The 50-250 Z lens should give you nice pictures. I bought the 24-200 Z lens for street photography and I like it better than my F mount 28-300 lens (haven't tried it on my Z50, only Z6 and Z7ii). Although I used the 28-300 lens for a long time with my Z6 and took great pictures. It was nice too for street and longer shots. There are a lot of great used F mount lenses out there that you can get cheaper. There are also other brands who make F mount compatible lenses. You will need to visit their websites to see what is compatible for Nikon Z cameras. Tamron for example keeps their list up to date. The crop factor on the Z50 will also kick up the range on F mount and full frame lenses, so you should be good with whatever you choose.
