For intermediate distance out to 600 yards these binoculars would be very clear and bright, bring the image closer and in good focus. However, these are 8 power binoculars and the distances to an object you may encounter in places like Yellowstone may not bring the image close enough to determine any detail. But if you are not visually scanning hillsides for distant and elusive wildlife, then these binoculars will be appropriate. Remember the higher the power of the binocular, the more prone to shaking and minor movement while you hold it.
