The Nikon -R1 Wireless Close-up Speedlight External Flash System is compatible with the Nikon D90 DSLR camera and AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 85MM f/3.5G ED VR along with other Micro/Macro lenses. If you don't want to use flash there are settings to turn it off without removing the flash itself. If you need troubleshooting information please contact Nikon Support.
