• Yes, the Nikon SB-300 AF Speedlight is completely compatible, and will work well with the Nikon D5200 DSLR camera, but it can only be used when placed on the camera's accessory shoe.

• It should work with the d5200, and because it is so small the light produced isn’t always the best. It’s great when you diffuse the light with it, but depending on the angle you have the light it can cause harsh shadows on your subject.
