Hello Gnu, We are happy to assist you with your inquiry about the Ninja Coffee Bar® 10-Cup Coffee Maker. This machine allows you to choose how long the Intelligent Warming Plate stays on for, from 0 minutes up to 4 hours. The hot surface light will still come on. With this being said, the Intelligent Warming Plate adjusts how much heat is delivered to the carafe to keep your coffee hot without burning it, which would leave the coffee tasting bitter.
