Take it from a foodi grill owner. The appliance has set off my smoke detector already. Haha Follow ninjas guidelines to mitigate as much as possible but be prepared certain foods will have a little more smoke that could potentially set off a smoke detector. For me it was trial and error. I tried angus burgers. Too much smoke. Had to air out my apartment. But was able to finish cooking the burger on a lower heat setting
