To clean the splatter shield, we recommend the following: Clean the splatter shield after every use. Soaking the splatter shield overnight will help soften any baked-on grease. After soaking, clean the splatter shield with a non-abrasive sponge or brush to remove the grease from the stainless steel frame and front tabs. Deep clean the splatter shield by putting it in a pot of water and boiling it for 10 minutes. Then, rinse with room-temperature water and allow it to dry completely. Over time, the splatter shield may discolor as grease burns onto it. This will not affect the performance of the splatter shield.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. So far we have luckily cleaned the upper round metal grease filter by running it under pure hot water and spot treating it with a stiff dish brush. (White with green bristles from Walmart). I poke the bristles into the screen where I see any build up if the hot water is not doing the trick alone. I have not had to soak it in hot soapy water yet, because I clean that part mainly right before I go to use it, only when I feel it needs it. It stays cleaner than I expected for so many uses. The booklet did say you can also boil it in a pot of hot water too.
