“I don’t understand when ( what type food cooking) to leave the diffuser on the basket or when to remove it before cooking. I left it on while cooking whole chicken, maybe I should have removed the diffuser first so the basket would sit in cooking liquud”

I always cook with it on . If you want the food to sit in the liquid don’t use the basket at all and just put the food in the main bucket with out the crisper basket . The only thing is you won’t be able to air crisp it after it is done cooking in liquid in main bucket .

When using the TenderCrisp™ Technology to cook a chicken, leave the diffuser on the Cook & Crisp™ Basket, so you don't have to remove the chicken from the unit when switching from pressure cooking to air frying.
