I always cook with it on . If you want the food to sit in the liquid don’t use the basket at all and just put the food in the main bucket with out the crisper basket . The only thing is you won’t be able to air crisp it after it is done cooking in liquid in main bucket .

When using the Cook & Crisp™ Basket, we recommend leaving the diffuser on. This allows air to fully circulate around the food when using the crisping lid. When using the TenderCrisp™ Technology to cook a chicken, leave the diffuser on the Cook & Crisp™ Basket, so you don't have to remove the chicken from the unit when switching from pressure cooking to air frying. We hope this information helps. The Customer Support Team
