• you do if you want one. dont know what they cost. many companies sell the one with the wire. use in smokers, etc. learn to cook and you wont need one.

• This model is not equipped to add thermometer. But a separated hand held on if you feel that is nessasary

• You can buy a quick read meat thermometer just about anywhere that will work just as good.

• I do not have the thermometer. If you use the suggested time in the manual, it usually cooks it perfectly.
