Yes, this coffee maker does need to be descaled periodically. The Intelligent Clean Cycle Indicator will automatically illuminate orange when a cleaning cycle is recommended. You can use a descaling solution or a mixture of white vinegar and water, following the instructions in the user manual to complete the cycle.

If I use K-cups its normal, about every 40-60-ish cups (its supposed to be 90) but when I use coffee grounds in the basket the stupid light comes on every 3-5 brews. Ive started to just ignore it and descale every other month.
