• So I found out that I can use a normal basket-style paper filter an place it underneath the permanent filter. The size is almost perfect and it keeps all the debris out of my cup! It might help to add a couple of drops of water to the empty filter after wedging the paper filter in. So happy now!

• The booklet says not to use paper filters, but it's tempting because fine ground coffee seems to leave sludge with just the permanent filter.
