1. Most games come in both physical formats (Cartridges) or digital formats (downloads). There are also many games that only come in downloads. 2. The Nintendo 3DS has a very large game library, but the favorite ones are Mario series, Pokemon series, etc. A Nintendo 3DS game that has a cartridge version will cost $39.99. (There are some exceptions though). For the same game, the cartridge and the download will always be at the same price unless there is a sale going on. 3. The "3DS only" means the game is only for the the Nintendo 3DS family. Nintendo 3DS games will definitely work on the Nintendo 2DS as Nintendo 2DS is part of the Nintendo 3DS family. However, the original, non-clamshell Nintendo 2DS does not run games labeled "Only for New Nintendo 3DS" on the top (The Minecraft game in the image is one of them). But there aren't too many of these kind of games.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can do both, dl through the Nintendo shop or 3ds cartridges. Anywhere from a few bucks to 30 I believe
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can buy physical or digital copies of the game. Digital copies would be downloaded and you should pick up a larger sd card if this is route you want to take. There is a wide variety of games to choose from visit any Best Buy or google for full list. Nintendo is known for family friendly games such as Mario Kart, Mario party, super Mario, etc. From what I understand the 3ds only games except the games that say “new 3ds only” can be played on this system. If you want full compatibility either get the “ new 3ds” or the “new 2ds” which is the fold in half version of this system with bigger screens.
