While it is technically possible, this product was not designed for that purpose and would likely be very awkward to hold. It is intended to charge the Joy-Cons in a fixed location, such as an end table or desk. If you wish to charge your controllers and play at the same time, you should consider acquiring a Joy-Con Charging Grip.
