• You can use both. You can not use soft candy though. Jolly Ranchers have been the best so far. Enjoy!

• You can use either or both, but if using candy it cannot have a soft center. Life savers work great. No special ingredients are needed.

• Both. You can use hard candy, plain sugar, sugar floss. The sugar floss produces a lot better cotton candy and well worth it.

• You can use hard candy and a flossing sugar. I haven't found the flossing sugar yet, but hard candy works great. Just crush it up.

• You can use flossing sugar (I ordered a 5 pack from amazon) or hard candies like jolly ranchers. There is a booklet with the cotton candy machine that let's you know which hard candies you can and cannot use.

• The instructions says you may use either. We have only used candy - that is simple to keep and store for me.
