“Has anyone used this Outdoors? I'm wondering how it will hold up through hot and cold. I want to leave it out doors and not have to bring it in”

I purchased 4 sets of this rope light from Best Buy and put 1 set up in December for Christmas. I left this up for accent lighting when other Christmas lights were taken down. It died a few weeks ago, so leaving it outside, I only got about 3 months out of it. For disclosure, the plug was in an exposed and damp area. The directions specify that the rope light itself is weather resistant, but not the plug. I plan to try again, but will try to protect the plug end more. It may yield a longer life.
