You must use both earbuds for them too work. The earbuds have a bult in hearing test so you can get the best hearing. IQbuds with boost work very well for me.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No you can not use one side at a time. You do not need a prescription. Both the Nuhera and the Bose units you control yourself. My experience is the Bose work better for hearing the outside world. While the issue is they have the collar around your neck which is a small annoyance.
