I have not tried to use a Firestick for comparison. However I do own both the Shield Pro and the Shield TV (barrel). I like the barrel much better. It has worked flawlessly. You will have to sign in to google to download apps. I also use VPN for my own satisfaction. But it has proven to be the Best Android device I’ve owned. That has been a lot of units over the last 5 years.

I find that the wi fi reception is not very good if the device is not close to your router. I have the device downstairs and found that the fire stick wi fi reception in the same location was better.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It is absolutely worth it, I just upgraded from the 4k firestick, it is much faster in every aspect. In fact I ordered a 2nd one to replace my other firestick. You do need a Google account
