Do you own a gaming PC ? ----> Then get a Rift S Don't own a gaming PC ? ----> Then get a Quest
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would recommend the S version where it connects to your PC, I don't expect the battery to last that long on the Quest and it would be another thing to worry about. Your not paying as much for the S but your getting the best quality with your PC. Bonus is having no cameras to set up anymore anyways. If you would like to travel or take it places than maybe the Quest would benefit you more.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The Oculus Quest is a stand-alone headset with its own processor. Because it’s running weaker hardware than a gaming computer the graphics are a bit worse but it is fully wireless which adds total freedom of movement without wrapping yourself up or yanking on your leash of a tether. The limited hardware also means that fewer games are made available for this headset. Choose the Quest if you don’t have a solid gaming PC to connect to or you value the mobility of being able to easily bring it to another room or to use outside your home. The Oculus Rift S requires a somewhat powerful computer (GTX 970 or better GPU recommended) to hook up to, which it connects to via USB 3.0 AND DisplayPort/Mini DisplayPort. This headset has much better graphical fidelity and has the wider selection of games in the Oculus store. Controller tracking should be slightly better with the Rift S over the Quest also as it has an additional tracking camera. Choose the Rift S if you have a computer to run it and want the best looking VR experiences available.

The quest works far easier than the Rift S, which is rather buggy currently. If you do not have a computer readily available with a USB 3.0 and DisplayPort (can get an adapter) that meets the minimum specs, you should not buy the Rift S. Keep in mind on the Rift S you can use SteamVR or Viveport games as well. Oculus Quest is getting unofficial support to stream from your PC, but your experience will differ wildly with a poor PC.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The Oculus Rift S uses your computer to run higher fidelity games. So, you'll need a computer with specific specs that you can find on the oculus website. The Oculus Quest is a stand alone VR console.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I currently own Oculus Quest All-in-one VR Gaming Headset 128GB, but after nearly a month of test play, I will exchange the Oculus Quest for an Oculus Rift S PC-Powered VR Gaming Headset tomorrow. Oculus Quest is remarkable for its mobility, designed for people who like to play at any location, and whenever they'd like. However, you will be stuck with very few mediocre games that are not so entertaining (depending on your gaming standards). Thus, if you are seeking mobility, go for it, and purchase Oculus Quest. But if you prefer better and more entertaining games (such as PC VR games), then I humbly advise you to choose Oculus Rift S. It's just a matter of choice between being wired with more advance games, or being mobile with substandard games.
I would recommend:
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've tested both and chose RiftS. If you already have a good GPU card with a display port, it's a no-brainer to get RiftS. If you already have a killer app that you know you'd enjoy and spend a lot of time on it, plus it's available for Quest ( like Vader Immortal, Robo Recall or Beat Saber ) then go for Quest. If you'd like to see your grandma to experiencing VR, go for Quest.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The Rift S requires a PC and the Quest does not. The biggest difference will be quality of games. Rift S games will look much better, but require a decent PC. The Quest has roughly the graphical capabilities of a very high end phone, but doesn't require a PC, which allows you to just jump in and play.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Quest has unlimited space really since it’s a stand alone. You can wander anywhere you want as long as you’re careful and have a decent clean space. Don’t have to worry about PC specs. Rift S is good but should have a decent PC to run it to its potential. This is one where your PC specs matter. Yeah cables restrict you and limit how far you can wander around your space but overall not a bad headset.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If you have a VR ready PC (the oculus website will tell you the specifications) than get the rift S, if not I recommend the quest
