It depends. On the oculus rift-s, you get more bang for your buck, however, on the valve index($999), you get many more features and capabilities than on the rift-s($400) but for more than double the price. If you want to save the money and are ok with 80 fps as opposed to 120 fps, sure, go for it, but as far as I've heard, it doesn't make that much of a difference except with particle effects and things like that.
