• No! I just went through this exact scenario. My less than year old gaming laptop only has HDMI. The Rift S requires DisplayPort. There are currently no adapters that work and I doubt there ever will be due to drastic differences between DP and HDMI bandwidth. If your gaming laptop only has HDMI, you’re out of luck trying to get it to work with the Rift S. Your options are to buy a computer with a DP connector or look at Quest or another VR platform that supports HDMI.

• From with I've seen there has not been any convertes to work if its dosnt have a display port.

• It needs a DisplayPort output from your video card. It will not work with any converter.

• So my friend has a rift s and only an HDMI and it worked for her and she is using her VR headset

• It would be odd that a gaming PC doesn't have a DisplayPort. If it has USB-C or Tunderbolt ports, get an adapter from USBC-C to DisplayPort. I'm not sure it will work with HDMI because of the refresh rates

• There is a work around that you may not know about. If your PC has a USB C, you can get an adapter to convert the USB C to a Displayport. Although this was a year and a half ago, I hope this helped!

• No. The Rift-S requires a Displayport. It does however come with a Displayport to Mini Displayport for laptops and such.

• It should work fine with a convertor (displayport to hdmi) but you may want to get a graphics card that has a display port.
