• Supposedly yes and yes. It comes with rechargeable batteries, but it also takes Alkaline (not rechargeable). It has a USB connector built in for charging and downloading files, but I never used it for either. I switched to Alkaline batteries when I got it. As stated in my review - I could never get the recorder to work correctly.
