“Does anyone have pics of the locking mechanism where the memory card and charging battery are located? Can this lock be easily opened by mistake underwater and ruin the camera ?”

You definitely cannot accidentally open it. There is a normal latch, like other cameras have. Then a second slider 'lock". You definitely cannot accidentally open it. To see what it looks like, check out Olympus website or check out a YouTube review.
