You can use the AC Adapter or the USB cable to charge the battery.

The battery charges while in the camera via a USB cord. It is, however, a removable battery that can be charged in an external charger if you have one (does not come with the camera).

The battery is charged in the camera, by using the included USB cord. I believe you can also purchase a separate charger. Hope this is helpful.
