HP thermal performance is extremely unoptimized. Throttling because of poor thermal regulation is NOT what I call "optimized for performance." Since HP's bios sets the fan at 50% maximum and has poor air circulation in the case itself third party programs are a requirement. The fan profile tweaking should have been included in the HP software. As for the CPU, a third party heat sink has been recommended. Noctua NH-U9S has been recommended and should fit the case. I have a bigger Noctua and it won't fit.
