Being that I own and have installed this player I can tell you 100 percent that this can only be used as part of a receiver configuration. The cd player can be connected via RCA cables, Coaxial cable or the preferred Digital cable to a reciever or amplifier. On the Onkyo website, the owners manual can be downloaded and shows clearly that this unit is to be used in conjunction as part of a audio system. This meaning connected to a reciever or amplifier to produce sound through a set of speakers. It is not designed to connect speakers directly to it and produce sound.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This Onkyo does not have a power amplifier. The outputs are not capable of driving typical 8 ohm speakers. You would have to route the Onkyo outputs to a receiver or to powered speakers with RCA analog inputs.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you have powered speakers you can connect directly to the cd and it will work. Powered speakers mean that they have a power cord to be plugged into an outlet. For example I have edifier 1280db speakers attached to this player and it all works fine. I connected via the optical cord.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.iT REQUIRES AN AMPLIFIER IF YOU WANT TO PLAY IT THROUGH SPEAKERS. OTHERWISE, YOU'LL HAVE TO LISTEN TO IT VIA A HEADSET/EARPHONES.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As you can see from the image of the rear panel of this unit, its outputs are analog line level, digital coaxial, and digital optical (toslink). The signals from these outputs are not suitable for driving loudspeakers.
