“So if STANDBY mode is not OFF how do I turn the component off when not in use? When I press OFF icon component goes into STANDBY mode.”

I've read that almost all electronics are never really "off" unless you unplug them. The changer turns off when the amplifier it's connected to/controlled by is turned off- otherwise the "standby" light stays on.
