How is the bass on this unit? null

I added a polk subwoofer with my polk speakers and you have more bass that you would ever need in a surround sound setting.

That really depends on how good your speakers are. Each channel puts out 140 watts so it can push some pretty good speakers. Bass and trebble is controlled on the front of the receiver. Each can be adjusted from -10 to +10.
