“Just got a new LG 65UH8500, will running the video through this receiver degrade the picture quality? Would hate to drop the pic quality for the convenience a few less cables.”

Make sure the "4K60P" setting is set to 4:4:4. The out of the box setting is 2:2:2 I think.

You don't really need to run HDMI cables through the system unless you are experiencing lag in sound from the tv to the head unit I haven't had any issues with mine and sound great just using standard rca connections but it does have optic cable inputs as well so that's another option
