Yes they're intended to be set as rear surround to give you the over head 3d audio.

Please try again later.Looking at your receiver back panel, and the fact that you have four existing rear speakers, you will need to place the Atmos speakers on top of the front speakers and connect them to the zone 2 speaker outputs on the back of your receiver and keep zone 2 active all the time. You need to look for DVD's that say they support Atmos (the new King Kong is great) to hear them perform.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.As I understabd it, the height speakers would replace two of the existing speakers. My 646 shows the channel as either back speakers OR height speakers. Unless you have a 9.1 or 9.2 system, the reveiver will drive only 7 speakers.
