Yes, you can use Zone 2 with or without Zone 1. However, be aware Zone 2 is analog input only, so you have to run RCA connections for any device you want to play through Zone 2 even if you’re using HDMI, coaxial, or optical connections for Zone 1. You’ll only have two channel playback in Zone 2, not digital quality, but with two speakers this is probably the case anyway.
