“In the description above it states 2x HDMI outputs, but under specifications it says 1x. Which is it? I need to have simultaneous output to two different TVs for my setup and I’d like to know if this receiver will work. Thanks!”

Yes it has two HDMI outputs, you can only switch between the two (view one at a time). My suggestion would be to connect a HDMI 4K 1 x 2 Splitter. That is a one Input to a two Output device. Just make sure that the output signal is strong enough for both of the cable lengths. So far I have enjoyed the Onkyo TX-NR686.
