• If you are playing directly from a usb jump drive, then yes it can. If you are playing from a phone or ipod or something of that nature then i'm not sure.

• If by random you mean shuffling so that the playlist is not in order, i believe the only way to do that is from the actual source of the music (ipod, phone, mp3 player)
