I have mine plugged directly into my routers ethernet port on my first story. I have clear audio upstairs in my home. If you have a bigger home and find call quality is suffering, you could use a "power line to ethernet adapter" to relocate your base station. I haven't tried connecting my base station via wifi, so I can't speak on the quality of wifi calling.
