Yes. You get a temporary phone number when you register the device with Ooma. Ooma has a 30 day try-out policy with full refund if you don't wish to keep it. You can port your old number at any time.

Ooma will give you a telephone number that you can then forward to your old number. Ooma handled porting my number in only 4 or 5 days! Then I canceled by existing service. The number they give you till porting goes through then just goes back into their open numbers. Phone service has been terrific with Ooma!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. I had Comcast XFinity Voice; plugged this in and activated Ooma with a temporary assigned number, first, to be sure it worked. Once I knew it worked, I started the porting process, and set a voice mail on my original number for callers to reach me at the temporary number until the porting was completed. All within the last few weeks; it was really pretty seamless.
