  • QuestionDoes the basic home phone service from Ooma has limit on the monthly calling minutes?

    Asked by OTKJ.

    • Answer There is a limit. They cut me off the free plan for using too many minutes (over 5400 mins) for a "Residential" user. Here is the email (I removed phone # details for privacy reasons) "Thank you for being an Ooma subscriber. We value you as a customer and would like to provide you with the best possible service that suits your needs and Ooma’s Terms of service. You currently have Ooma’s residential telephone service. However your usage for XXX-YYY-ZZZZ is not consistent with residential use, as defined in our Terms and Conditions. During the month of XXXXX you have used a total of 54XX minutes." I was using it for work conference calls (before Zoom).

  • QuestionI have an old ooma that is causing problems. If I buy a new one, is it easy to keep my old ooma phone number? Can I setup number myself, or need customer service.

    Asked by Jimbo4321.

    • Answer Yes it was easy to switch service to new ooma device. As far as I can tell, your service is identified by and through your device. They will begin your "new" service on your new device. You will need to call them for your phone number to be on your new device. If you have premium service paying monthly fee for call block, your probably going to have less problems than I. If your like me & do not pay for call block, lol remember how few solicitations you had will your old device. I hope your not flooded with new solicitations again since you have a new ooma device and somehow by chance? The scammers etc. decide to start calling your old phone number again through your new device.

  • QuestionI'm replacing an old Ooma with new one, will I have to pay to keep current phone number?

    Asked by Mack.

  • QuestionWhat is the monthly fee for OOMA Basic

    Asked by LPW49.

    • Answer After you buy the OOma equipment your monthly cost for your phone and "answering machine" service from Ooma basic is $0. Note you will still be charged your local, state and 911 fees enforced by your local area but you can not get around those fees. If you want an exact cost visit the Ooma website and put in your zip code for your specific areas fees. In west ny mine is $6.66 go figure, also keep in mind there is a 1 time fee of transfering a number you currently own to this service. That fee is $40 plus local fees, they advise it could take 1 month for your current carrier to release your current number to Ooma but mine personally was done in 1 week. As with any company these days they always offer you a free trial for their higher teir service when signing up which is "Premier" a $10 a month fee which includes call filtering and many other options do yourself a favor and opt out of this free trial to reduce your annoyance in 2 months when you forget to cancel it unless you need it. Ooma is a great service and I have had it for about 1 year 100% recommend, you may need to tweak some online portal options but outside of that it only takes minutes to set up

  • QuestionWhat if you don't have the fastest wifi

    Asked by Hman.

    • Answer As I understand it the Ooma needs very little bandwidth to operate properly. I currently have 100MB/s internet and half that for wifi and have had no issues. In the past I had even slower speeds and again had no issues with the Ooma. Though if you have lots of users and routinely have issues with bandwidth and wifi speed you could also have issues with the Ooma, in which case you just need a better internet and wifi setup to improve all device access.
