It has a a long door I guess you could call it on the side, you just open it up and put your pencil on the magnetic charging port.

The case is two sections. Back plastic piece will need to detach from the inner "rubber" case. The pen charges on section of the case lifts a flap like so you can set pen on to charge as is case was not present. The second gen pen works great with the case on as we have not had any issues.

Yes, this case has a side flap that opens up for the Apple Pencil. I keep mine attached at all times:)

Yes it work great. The case has a slot where you can attach the pencil after opening it. The case itself does not have a pencil holder. Even though you can charge it with the case on, you will still have to store the pencil off case.
