You've installed the rubber piece incorrectly. Take it off and turn it around.

There are 3 rubber tabs that snap closed to protect (the charger on bottom, the auto plug on bottom, and the switch to mute phone on side). They seal when close and easy to snap open when you need to use.

It is covered with a rubber piece that can be opened and then replaced. Nice design doesn’t get in the way. Keeps out dirt and the occasional rain.

no the there are openings for the holes where you charge your phone, etc.
