Definitely to hard to press in it's not just you. Probably be taking mine back. I bought it before the phone was released. I have had several of the Defender cases but never this issue. It does protect the phone just lay it face down and see the bottom and top of phone case touch surface first.
This case doesn't offer any screen protection. The phone should be easy to power on and off. Try removing the rubber portion of the case and reinstalling it. The rubber button might not be contacting the tactile button on the phone
Yes, it is more difficult to turn the phone off and on but that ensures that it won't turn on when it is in your purse or pocket.
It does take more pressure to depress the buttons than if nothing was over it, but it is not difficult or awkward. Maybe use fingernail instead of fingertip. My case seems to offer good protection from side and bottom impact, with the rubber coming up flush with the side. I don't think it will offer any protect from top impact.
my Best Buy Geek gave me a good tip ....press with your finger flat, not your nail.... easy and slow, not hard or fast.
I don't have any trouble turning the phone on or off with the case on. I know some cases do have stiffer buttons and maybe I've just gotten used to pressing harder. As far as protecting the curved part of the screen, the top and bottom of the case have bumpers to help absorb the impact should the phone be dropped or fall. For better protection, you can either leave on the film that Samsung put on, or use a glass screen protector. I just left the Samsung film on because I've had too much trouble with glass screen protectors because they don't stick well or leave the phone not very responsive due to the extra thickness. Hope this helps.
Yes, it's hard to turn on
Turn your phone and look at the profile (side). It clearly sticks out further than the screen, curved edges and all. This soft rubber should prevent damage from dropping.
its protected mine when I've dropped it.
