I am pretty sure it would protect a fall. Even though the case is plastic, it feels very secure in my hands. I just purchased one this week and the sides are also well covered. The packaging says it's 3x tested to military standard. It also fits my new Samsung Galaxy S21 5G perfectly.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Fortunately I have had to find this out. However I purchased this product for that very reason. I have had previous Samsung devices which I have dropped more than once. Both Samsung & my service provided have recommended the protective cover for the case and protective cover for the screen as well. I trust the recommendation. Besides I find the protective cover allows me to grip the device better. In other words it is not so slippery which is how I dropped previous device.
